astrud smiles candace's PROMO

Astrud Castillo is a San Francisco based Kirtan singer and Yoga teacher. She has been leading her band the Cosmic Caravan since 2012 locally, nationally and internationally. It is with faith in the power of sound, vibration and the Bhakti Yoga tradition she has committed herself to uplift the spirit, awaken the heart and deepen relationships to oneself and others.

Astrud shows up to sing wherever she is called with a desire to lead people closer to their hearts and their truest essence, which is love; the heart of Bhakti Yoga. She leads Kirtans at Yoga studios, festivals as well as teaching Bhakti Yoga workshops and teacher trainings.

The practice of constant surrender is what has transformed her and inspires her the most. Astrud’s chanting is rooted in Kirtan’s traditional style of simple devotional repetition, while including her own original arrangements.

But it is your own voice that she calls on the most to join the band and sing in the key of “WE”.

She has opened for Jai Uttal, as well as sung with Prema Hara, the Kirtaniyas, Radiance Kirtan, and Keith Borden.

Saraswati Workshop with Shri Vivekshastri Godbole

Saraswati Workshop _slider

We are so honored to host Shri Vivekbhau Godbole for this special workshop on the Goddess Saraswati.

In the Indian texts, Saraswati is the goddess and muse of poetry, music, art, knowledge and wisdom.

Saraswati is the sacred energy that gives rise to eloquent speech, to the ability to grasp and absorb knowledge, and to the creative inspiration that is expressed through the arts. So Sarasvati is invoked by teachers and students, writers and public speakers, musicians and seekers of sacred wisdom. Saraswati is the energy behind flashes of intuitive insight, and the flow of creative inspiration.

In the Vedic tradition, the blessings of Sarasvati are invoked with special mantras and rituals that create a sense of deep connection and inspiration. We will experience and learn these during this workshop.

Every day we encounter the unfiltered deluge of our current public discourse, where truth, respect and eloquence are so often considered optional. We connect with the power of Sarasvati to evoke insights that transcend this level of discourse, and to inspire our own thoughts, speech and creative expressions to be uplifting, beneficial and wise.

$20 in adv / $25 day of the event

Shri Vivek Godbole is widely known for his exquisite Vedic chanting, and for his ability to perform both simple and elaborate rituals in a way that is exquisite and deeply evocative. These are always accompanied by his accessible yet profound and fascinating explanations of Vedic philosophy, ritual and culture. His family have been teaching and practicing the Vedic tradition for 18 generations. He is the head of Shree Krishna Yajurveda Pathshala, a traditional Vedic school in Satara, Western India. With his inspired teaching and leadership, the school has been recognized by the UNESCO and the Government of India for preserving one of the 10 most endangered branches of the Vedas. In the US he is a Core Teacher at As he speaks, you will feel that the power of Sarasvati dances in his thoughts and speech.

All proceeds will go to support Shree Krishna Yajurveda Pathshala, Shri Vivek’s traditional Vedic school in Satara, India.
