As spring flowers begin to pop up from the sleepy winter ground, we can find inspiration in these cues of Mother Nature to grow the seeds inside ourselves, to look ahead, formulate new ideas, make decisions and take action. Just as these new flowers need soil, rain, and sun to blossom, we too must care for our most basic needs in order to flourish.

Restorative yoga is a powerful and therapeutic practice that uses props to support the body combined with guided meditation to encourage stillness of the mind. Immerse yourself in this three-hour seasonal workshop experiencing a combination of gentle yoga poses, guided meditation, aromatherapy and hot stones. During the practice, you will cultivate a deep sense of relaxation to soothe and cleanse your nervous system, boost your immune system and deepen mind/body awareness. Together, we’ll explore how the ancient concepts of Ayurveda, a 5,000 year old system of traditional East Indian Medicine, can help us with our issues of stress, anxiety, insomnia, fatigue, aches, pains, stiffness and sluggishness.

Learning Ayurvedic concepts helps us cope with modern stressors by teaching us to align ourselves with Nature. In this two-hour workshop we will learn about the five elements, the three doshas, and how they empower us to promote good health and a sense of well-being.

Aparna Dandekar, Family Medicine, Osteopathy & Ayurveda, board certified family physician trained in three medical sciences–Western (Allopathic) Medicine, Osteopathy, and Ayurveda.

The philosophy that I adhere to is simple: nature knows best. My inherent faith in nature’s self-regulating wisdom is further strengthened by my Osteopathic and Ayurvedic training. Simultaneously, my experience as an allopathic physician has given me the utmost respect for modern science. Join our 100 Hour Anusara Yoga Teacher Training in Berkeley, CA to become a certified, registered yoga teacher!  You’ll receive comprehensive training in teaching alignment-based hatha and vinyasa yoga classes and cultivate the knowledge and confidence to teach a safe and engaging yoga class to a wide variety of students.

In yoga we teach to learn and learn to teach simultaneously! Together we’ll learn how to articulate instructions clearly and succinctly, skillfully observe and safely adjust our students, develop and weave relevant class themes, learn therapeutic alignment principles, and  inspire each other to share our hearts’ offerings. In a safe and nurturing environment you will discover, cultivate, and refine your unique voice and step courageously into the PRACTICE of teaching yoga to others.

Our teacher trainees benefit from individualized attention, ample opportunities for practice and feedback, immersion into the healing practices of yoga and deeper integration into a community of like-hearted souls. This 200 HR Anusara Yoga Teacher Training is appropriate for experienced yogis who wish to pursue teaching and current teachers wishing to expand and fine tune their skills and abilities. Passionate students who simply wish to deepen their knowledge of yoga are also welcome! Our 200 hours of training consist of 100 hours of Yoga Immersion, followed by 100 hours dedicated to the art and science of teaching. Trainees who successfully completely a written and oral exam are eligible to register as Anusara Elements™ yoga teachers with the Anusara School of Hatha Yoga.
