Balancing Form & Freedom: Upper Body & Lower Body Therapeutics for Longevity with Sue Elkind (In-Studio + Online)

Balancing form and freedom in movement is essential for a holistic and sustainable yoga practice. While form provides structure and stability, freedom allows for adaptability and responsiveness to the ever-changing needs of the body. Integrating both aspects creates a harmonious relationship between precision and spontaneity, discipline and play, enabling us to move with grace, ease, and authenticity.

 Join Sue Elkind for this two-part Yoga Therapeutics workshop that is designed to help you cultivate a balance between structured alignment and intuitive expression, helping to enhance function, ease discomfort, and promote strength & vitality in both the upper and lower body.

 For our first session, we'll focus on refining form through targeted practices aimed at releasing tension, improving posture, and enhancing mobility in areas such as the shoulders, neck, arms, and wrists. In session two, we’ll move on to the lower body and focus on the hips, legs, knees, and feet.

 Drawing from anatomical principles and biomechanical insights, we'll delve into both precise alignment and mindful movement as well as embracing the concept of freedom in movement by tapping into the body's innate wisdom, fostering adaptability to the unique needs of the body.  Practices will include strength building and dynamic stretches, as well as myofascial release techniques that invite more fluidity and expression within the structured postures.

 This workshop is suitable for practitioners of all levels, with modifications provided to accommodate individual needs and abilities. Join Sue and explore this interplay between form and freedom, unlocking your potential for greater ease, joy, and authenticity in your Yoga practice.

 CEU’s will be provided for yoga teachers for continuing education. 

All levels welcome. Regardless of how many years you have been practicing, you will learn something valuable from this experienced yoga teacher.

 


Sue Elkind is internationally renowned in the yoga community as a teacher’s teacher, with over 30 years of yoga and meditation experience. Her in-depth knowledge of alignment and biomechanics, along with her passion to teach from her heart, allows her students to expand their potential both physically and spiritually. Sue is the director of DIG Yoga's 200 and 500 hour Teacher Training programs, author of 'Dig Pregnancy, Birth & Baby' and creator of Awakening the Goddess Pre/Post Natal Trainings that she offers worldwide. Inspired by keeping great company, quality time in nature and her loving family, Sue co-founded her home studio DIG Yoga in 2010 with Naime Jezzeny in Frenchtown, NJ, as a sanctuary to nourish the body, mind and heart with yoga.

Saturday 11:00am-1:00pm

Upper body: we will focus on refining form through targeted practices aimed at releasing tension, improving posture, and enhancing mobility in areas such as the shoulders, neck, arms, and wrists.

Saturday 2:00pm-4:00pm  

Lower body: We will focus on the hips, legs, knees, and feet.
