“[Polyvagal Theory] is the science of feeling safe enough to fall in love with life and take the risks of living.” —Deb Dana, LCSW, master trainer and founding member of The Polyvagal Institute

Many of us lead busy lives saturated by deadlines, over-responsibility, chronic tension, and stress. Taking time to pause, look within, and reconnect with ourselves and what matters most is imperative to maintaining our health and wellbeing. This weekend Immersion is a chance to step away from the hustle of the holiday season to nourish a sense of calm, clarity, and vitality.

Polyvagal theory expands our understanding of the autonomic nervous system and its nuanced regulation of stress and rest throughout the body, mind, and senses. By exploring Polyvagal Theory and iRest Yoga Nidra Meditation you’ll learn to recognize the language of your nervous system and how it’s wired for connection. You’ll come to see how it keeps you safe, helps you navigate life’s ups and downs, and supports an interconnection with others and the world around you.

The weekend includes experiential and nourishing yoga nidra practices to balance and calm your nervous system which builds resilience, groundedness, and a sense of safety.

You’ll practice co-meditation with a partner to build your capacity to rest in the ground of Being and experience co-regulation in action.

You’ll learn concepts from polyvagal theory and principles of iRest that you can immediately apply, including:

  • Learning accessible practices to support both co-regulation and self-regulation

  • Building an understanding of neuroception and vagal brake to support flexibility

  • Developing a vibrant inner resource to use as a ventral vagal anchor that fosters health and resilience from stress and anxiety

  • Working with effective tools to skillfully meet difficult emotions and beliefs in daily life

  • Supporting healthy rest and sleep

  • Learning how to slow down and reconnect with yourself

  • Awakening to your essential wholeness

  • Practicing BodySensing & BreathSensing for increased energy, vitality, and deep relaxation

  • Learning how to integrate the practices of iRest into daily life

These teachings are appropriate for healthcare professionals, yoga therapists, iRest teachers, and the general public. Healthcare professionals, yoga therapists, and iRest teachers will be able to incorporate the tools and practices offered in this program to greatly benefit their clients, patients, or students. All attendees will learn tools and practices to improve nervous system regulation and overall wellbeing in their daily lives.
