Classes steeped in tradition & practice
YogaKula is a studio where everyone is welcome. We have a breadth of holistic wellness offerings, movement and meditation classes taught by a variety of teachers. The teachers are trained in Anusara, Iyengar, Hatha, Vinyasa, and Ashtanga yoga traditions, with backgrounds in the health and wellness sciences. They have decades of advanced studies in yoga and meditation.
Class Descriptions
-
Anusara Yoga
Anusara is a therapeutic system of hatha yoga that utilizes a set of clear and elegant biomechanical principles that underlie all yoga postures. The Anusara Yoga method allows us to develop a more conscious relationship with the body and to understand the mind-body connection in such a way that we feel whole and supported, stronger and more flexible both on the mat and in our lives.
-
Hatha Yoga
A Hatha Yoga class is taught with unique sequencing to promote a dynamic + relaxing experience. This class incorporates all aspects of a traditional Hatha yoga class – breath, meditation and postures – while challenging your co-ordination through movement.
-
Mindful Flow
A Hatha-inspired class, with emphasis on alignment and embodied awareness. Expect a mix of asana poses, meditation and breath work to draw you deeper into presence.
-
Vinyasa Yoga
Vinyasa flow is designed to build heat, strength and mental focus. Each teacher creates their own unique sequence and will teach to help all the different levels of students in the room. All levels welcome.
-
Restorative Yoga
Restorative is a gentle, relaxing, passive style that allows students to relax and release the body into a gentle stretch that is held for as long as 10 minutes. This style makes use of a wide range of props, including bolsters, blocks, straps and blankets. The intention is to provide support within each pose, making it easier to completely leg go.
-
Qigong
These classes focus on calming and toning the nervous system, centering the mind, harmonizing the breath with the movements of the body, and cultivating energy appropriate to the changing seasons. Drawing from several Qigong traditions, these classes are designed to settle the emotions, and to build whole-body coordination, mental focus, a relaxed yet energized feeling, and a deeply rooted, quiet joy. This is a gentle class for folks of all bodies and abilities.
-
Women’s Meditation Group
Join a local women's meditation group, Assaya Sangha, for weekly meditations at Yoga Kula. These meditation sessions are open to all self-identified women and all experience levels.
-
Yoga Nidra Meditation
This guided lying down meditation induces mental calm, physical ease and deep brain wave states in which old unhealthy patterns can be deconstructed and replaced with new, self affirming patterns. This is also an excellent practice for those with sleep disturbances, high stress, chronic pain or fatigue, depression or conditions with similar symptoms. Wear warm, comfortable clothing, a blanket and pillow. No experience necessary.
